The bride doesn’t intentionally set out to wreak havoc and cause harm, but she’s created a monster within herself... it's alive! A FRANKENBRIDE is born! It’s a silly term for a serious problem… when the bride becomes so difficult she destroys much of the happiness that can be had in planning and enjoying a wedding. It really boils down to self-centeredness when the bride gets so wrapped up in her own wedding woes that she expects the world to revolve around her every request, and that includes you, Ms. Bridesmaid. Yes, one of your main duties is to help the bride when possible, but we’ve yet to find any rule that says you must sacrifice any bit of free time you have to be at her beck and call.

Q: Help! I don't even recognize my best friend (the bride) right now. She's become extremely demanding and self-centered when it comes to her wedding. How can I deal with her? - Emma
A: Eh...she may need a wake up call. A lot of brides assume that because their wedding is the most important thing happening in their lives that it is also the most important thing happening in everyone else's lives. Try explaining to your friend that while you are pleased to take part in the wedding, you do have other concerns and she needs to respect that. Good luck!
