There’s not much better motivation to get in shape than the “threat” of a fast-approaching wedding at which you’ll be on display in front of the entire crowd. You’re probably worrying there’s too much jiggle here and too much wiggle there so now’s the time to hit the gym. It’s always helpful to have a deadline to work toward
when you want to get in shape.
Most health and fitness experts agree there’s no magic pill to shed those unwanted pounds. They’ll give you a simple equation: diet + exercise = weight loss. Watch what you eat and get moving, and you should be able to button those pants again.
If you’re the kind of gal who needs more structure and supervision, there are lots of weight loss programs in the marketplace to be a guide and give you a trail map to success. You just have to follow their path and make sure you don’t fall off a cliff along the way.
Thousands of people have lost millions of pounds on classic programs like Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, NutriSystem, L.A. Weight Loss, South Beach and SlimFast. However, there’s a reason that most of their commercials carry an asterisk (*) at the bottom with the caveat “results not typical.” Plenty of people have terrific success (I’ve already lost 35 lbs. with L.A. Weight Loss) but those are the folks who “get with the program” and stick with it. There are many more who lose steam and don’t get the results they want. So talk with your health care provider and determine a plan that works for you… and don’t give up on the healthier person inside you who’s ready to strut her stuff.
WARNING: You’re psyched to exercise, drink your eight glasses of water daily and avoid the french fries, right? That’s fantastic and we wish you all the success your mirror desires BUT don’t buy a smaller sized bridesmaid dress in anticipation of your newer, slimmer self. It’s often impossible to “let out” or expand a smaller-sized dress if you don’t meet your goal in time for the big day. So, buy the size that fits you NOW and enjoy the feeling you’ll have when the hard work pays off and the seamstress alters the dress down to fit the fitter you.
